Making this encoder work in Linux (RetroArch or similar)

You'll need to access the shell on your Raspberry Pi based RetroArch install and you'll want a keyboard plugged in to make this easier. Once shelled in edit /boot/cmdline.txt and add the following to the end of the existing line:

usbhid.quirks=0x0810:0xe001:0x040

Then reboot.
